Realtors are often asked when is the best time to buy a home. The  first answer is when you need one and can qualify for the purchase.

The second answer is: All things considered, November and December are the best months to get a great deal.  The majority of the buyers are preoccupied with the holidays activities and their funds are somewhat depleted with gift purchases.  They are much to busy to think about buying a home.

The savvy buyer knows that this is the time to be on the lookout for a good deal.  Because the sellers who market their homes now, despite the inconvenience of holiday responsibilities, are serious sellers.

Of course, as an experienced Realtor, I would recommend contacting a dependabe, knowledgable professional to keep an eye on the few listing that come up at this time of the year, and the ones that have been reduced to your price range.
